For years, the Holland Dance Festival has spared no effort in looking for joint projects that can connect amateur and professional dancers. This always makes for a special chemistry and energy between the dancers with, as a result an exchange of information, inspiration and a sturdy, integrated field. The festival is proud to be co-producer of The Nutcracker in the Church of St. Jacob or ‘Grote Kerk’ in The Hague by De Dutch Don’t Dance Division.
This special Christmas event was first organized in 2006, inspired by the fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann and the wonderful music by P.I. Tchaikovsky. All performances were sold out and it was an enormous success. A new Nutcracker is planned for 2007! Unique for the Netherlands, the production is a collaboration between children, young adults, dance students, older adults, professional dancers and stars of national and international ballet companies rooted in the community of The Hague. A special creation by choreographers Thom Stuart and Rinus Sprong of the Dutch Don’t Dance Division. Also check www.notenkraker.nu
