Profile
The Holland Dance Festival (HDF), founded in 1987 on the initiative of the City of The Hague, is a celebration of dance: a large-scale biennial event offering a recurring opportunity to recognize and stimulate important artistic developments of the art form in motion and their underlying patterns.
When aiming for the highest artistic level in the programming of the festival, the following set of guidelines is applied:
. Presenting performances of both internationally acclaimed dance companies as well as lesserknown companies both large and small
. Initiating projects in co-operation with leading Dutch and International (cultural) institutions, placing dance in a wider context.
. Participating in international co-productions.
. Encouraging the exchange of dance with other art forms
. Capturing attention and developing (new) audiences for the Holland Dance Festival and dance in general.
. Strengthening the position of The Hague as an important city for dance (Den Haag danst!).
